Chairs and charity from an Italian fashion house
At next month’s furniture design event in Milan, the Salone del Mobile 2013, Marni is bringing its second installment of last year’s 100 Chairs project.

This year’s collection includes chaise-lounges, rocking chairs and child-sized seats, all featuring Marni’s signature geometric block patterns in perfectly combined bright colors inspired by the urban living room. Just as in the last series, each piece is the result of hard handcrafted work by ex-prisoners in Colombia.

Based on a style of furniture common among Colombian families, the chairs are made by wrapping PVC cord around a metal frame. Mixing fashion and design with sustainability and charity, the collection incorporates recycled plastic materials while helping ex-prisoners find constructive ways to re-integrate into society.
