On the road the antagonism between bike riders and car drivers might be legendary, but get off the street and auto makers seem to be happy to approach the world of bicycle design. A perfect example is Italian auto manufacturer Alfa Romeo which has teamed up with design company Compagnia Ducale for a range of bicycles. The latest addition to the series is the 4C IFD, a technologically advanced, but light weight bicycle.
Inspired by the design of the Alfa Romeo 4C car, the 4C bicycle features an Innovative Frame Design (IFD) that is light and resistant. Made from the same carbon fiber material used in its 4-wheeled sibling, the 4C IFD frame includes a unique semi-tube structure revealing C-shaped cross sections that are reinforced with steel at the joints. The dynamic lines and curves of the bike’s form a stylized number “4″ joining the seat, gears and handlebar. Available in red or white, this limited edition presents high quality components, including a Deda Elementi Crono handlebar and Campagnolo gears. Completely made by hand in Italy, the sporty Italian spirit of the exclusive Alfa Romeo 4C IFD is captured in the red and black color pairing of its tires.
