The shape is simple, the technology isn’t new and the idea is stripped down to it’s bare bones; yet, that is what makes this product utterly brilliant. Created by the legendary Italian designer Achille Castiglioni in 1972, the Lampadina remains to this day one of my favorite lamps still in production.
Modern and minimal, the lampadina works and looks great without a bunch of unnecessary bells and whistles. Don’t be scared of its bare-bulb look since the bulb is partially sandblasted to diffuse the direct light. Also, you can hide the power cord around the base of the lamp. The body is made of bakelite (very retro) and comes in black or orange.
