Bamboo bicycle solution

Today, many of us see bicycles as a fun eco-friendly way to stay fit and get to work without worrying about traffic.  In other, words we think of bikes as an alternative to taking the bus or driving a car. The BamGoo project by Sara Urasini, winner of the International Bicycle Design Competition 2013, seeks to highlight the importance of bicycles as a primary means of transportation in developing countries.

Across the world and especially in developing countries, bicycles are used to carry a huge number of things over long distances. It is this purpose, expressed in the concept “Bamboo moves goods for you” that inspired the name BamGoo.

The BamGoo structure is simple and easy to create because it’s made of natural materials, such as bamboo, leather and rattan string, all of which are easily available. The frame includes twelve symmetrically arranged containers and it can be used three ways: as a carrying rack on the bicycle, as a stand that uses the bicycle as a base, or as a portable walking carrier.
