Cobra table lamp

Cobra Table Lamp | Elio Martinelli

The flowing curves of the Cobra Table Lamp might look futuristic, but this space-age design was originally produced in 1968.   Why is it called Cobra?  Because the upper arm of the lamp swivels 360 degrees transforming the light from a sphere into a snake-like S shape. The head of the lamp, with a white metallic interior, also looks like the hooded form of a cobra.

Today the Cobra Table Lamp remains just as strikingly beautiful as when Italian designer Elio Martinelli first created it.  As a timeless lamp the Cobra has become an iconic masterpiece of Italian design.  The clean and minimal white resin silhouette turns pretty much any room into uniquely modernist space.
