Fornasetti has always been obsessed with the face of Lina Cavalieri, 19th century opera singer. From the addition of a Charlie Chaplin moustache to distorted surrealism, Piero Fornasetti and his son Barnaba transformed a single enigmatic face into an Italian avant-garde design legend. It’s fitting then that to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Italian unity the housewares company has has once again reimagined the face, this time in a series of china vases that dressed in Italy’s colors: white, green and red. Each vase in the set features two facial expressions, one on each side, and measures 15 x 7 centimeters.
