A strict family leader, great business man and flawless icon of elegance and style. That’s how Giovanni Agnelli, who was always called Gianni to distinguish him from his grandfather, has been described. It’s been ten years since the patriarch of the Agnellis, owners of the FIAT car company and the Juventus soccer team and the most famous and discussed Italian dynasty, passed away. A lot of things have changed in his empire since then: from the relocation of FIAT from Turin to Detroit to the fall of Juventus.
Born and raised in Turin, he took over his family business in 1966 and, thanks to his ability, FIAT soon became the most important company in Italy and one of the major European car manufacturers even as it struggled during economic crises and labor disputes. His excellent well-known style inspired generations of men to dress with elegance and class. His eccentric and stylish trademark was a watch worn on top of his shirt cuff.
In a country where elegance and fashion sense are not missing, he definitely stood out for his unique style and personality, which defined the greatest Italian man of the century.
