As I’m sure you know at Ganzo we love Italian art and the best original Italian artists, so you can imagine how happy we were to head over to the opening of Mario Canali’s new show at the DAC Gallery in Downtown Los Angeles last Saturday.

Mario Canali New Works at DAC Gallery | "Iconica" and "Qualcosa sta succedendo / Something is Happening"

The space was packed with a great international crowd of art-minded individuals, including the Italian consul Giuseppe Perone.  Add to the party an open wine bar and selection of Italian food and we found an event worthy of Canali’s amazing work.

We were also glad to find that the artist was on hand and was more than happy to answer our questions and explain some of his works in person.

This new series of works produced when Canali was staying in Los Angeles last year introduces us to a surreal set of characters created in graphite, pastel and oil paint.

Looking closely at "Cielo Scuro" / "Dark Sky"

Personally, the pieces we were drawn to included “Cielo Scuro / Dark Sky” and “Iconica.”

The opening reception for Mario Canali’s show was on March 10, but runs until April 6 at the DAC Gallery.  This is definitely an exhibit you need to check out!
