Video Tribute to the Fendi Baguette

As part of the celebration surrounding the 15th anniversary of the Fendi baguette bag, Silvia Venturini Fendi and her iconic creation are the subject of a fascinating video featuring the art of Maruizio Anzeri.

The Fendi Baguette embroidered by Italian artist Maurizio Anzeri

Maurizio Anzeri is an Italian artist living in London whose multimedia work involves an interesting process. Anzeri takes vintage photo portraits, places tracing paper over them and then draws on the tracing paper.  Once he is satisfied with the result he pierces the photo and paper with a type of needle and removes the paper from the photo.  This pierced photo becomes the canvas for his embroidered artwork.

While each of Maurizio Anzeri’s pieces is unique his signature is the fact that he almost always leaves at least one eye of the photographic subject untouched.  This creates the impression that the lines of embroidery thread are practically drawing you into the inner thoughts of the anonymous person in the photograph.

Take a look at the video and you’ll see Anzeri’s work take shape stitch by stitch!
