Tables abruptly disrupted
Husband-and-wife team Davide Luciano and Claudia Ficca have teamed up to create Meals Interrupted, a photography series of dining tables abruptly disrupted by events.
As they revealed in an earlier interview with Ganzo, Davide and Claudia were both born in Montreal to Italian parents. This is their second photographic project together, following the imaginative Potholes series, and is the unique result of Davide’s skills as a fine-art photographer and filmmaker and Claudia’s talent as a professional food stylist. Each image featuring an abandoned tabletop in the aftermath of a humorously disastrous accident or mishap was photographed by Davide and arranged and styled by Claudia with NYC-based prop stylist Maeve Sheridan.
With Meals Interrupted the couple wanted to tell a story through food while challenging themselves to deal with unusual conditions, like a bee swarm, a devastating fire, a full-blown cafeteria food fight, a calculated mobster hit, and a heavy rainfall. Each shot vividly captures the disappointment and sense of abandonment that evidently accompanies a gathering that is suddenly and unexpectedly ended.
