After months of rumors, Versace has confirmed a capsule collection collaboration with the British singer M.I.A. A collection inspired by the knockoffs might sound a bit unexpected, but it’s time for Versace “to copy the copies.” Growing up M.I.A. always saw Versace counterfeits at the market, so it’s only natural she chose to incorporate that element of London street style into her collection for Versus, the edgy rock diffusion line of Versace.
The M.I.A. collection remixes Versace trademarks such as the gold Medusa head and the colorful Greek patterns to give them a streetwear twist. As Donatella herself has said, the collection is fast, noisy and brazen. A total of 19 pieces, including silky shirts, jersey dresses, t-shirts, printed jeans and camo jackets, blend the worlds of music and fashion in a collection for men and women that will launch on October 16th.
