As an Italian, I felt proud when I saw on Hypebeast that Charlie Holmes and his design team at Nike Sportswear had decided to create a “Made in Italy” collection of ultra premium shirts, tops and jackets.
After the success of their “Made in Italy” tennis collection which debuted at Wimbledon last year, Nike was looking for a high level of artisan craftsmanship that would be worthy of its premium pursuits: Italy was the answer. This year the collection will coincide with the six nation tournament for the rugby world cup. While rugby might make you think of dirt and sweat, the high-end line is expected to appear at London’s prestigious Selfridges department store starting on February 19.
