Does time change things? Of course! But the real question is, does time make things better or worse? It depends! In the case of the Non là ceramic table clock, designed by Studio Klass (Marco Maturo and Alessio Roscini) for Italian brand Diamantini & Domeniconi, time is inspiration that leads to better design.
The idea of the Non là clock comes from Vietnamese culture. Inspired by the satgat, the typical conical hat worn in Vietnam to protect against the sun and rain, Diamantini & Domeniconi has created a stylized cone-shaped clocked that looks like it might roll off your table, but is held in place by a small flat base. The result is a clock with a large face that is tilted upwards making it easy to read the time.
The overall effect is even more powerful considering the shiny beauty of the glazed clock. The choice of materials is not by chance; Studio Klass plays on the smoothness of the ceramic to create the impression that the clock is fading away, just as time does. So if you’re not able to stop time, just roll with it!
