Goodbye Sergio Scaglietti
We say goodbye to an unforgettable personality that let many people, including me, dream. Born in Modena (1920) Sergio was 13 when he started working for an auto design shop after the death of his father. He met Enzo Ferrari in 1939 thanks to pure luck. That first encounter led to a great collaboration and a wonderful friendship that produced some of the best Ferrari cars ever made, such as the Ferrari 250 GTO (1962) and the Ferrari Testa Rossa (1957).
In 1953 Sergio founded his own body shop: Carrozzeria Scaglietti and the coachbuilder was bought by Ferrari in 1975. Sergio will live on in Ferrari’s truly original tribute to him – the Ferrari 612 Scaglietti.
